High blood pressure is a silent killer that disproportionately affects African-American men in Mississippi. Many men are notoriously difficult to get to the doctor, so the BROTHERS program (Barbers Reaching Out To Help Educate on Routine Screenings), a collaboration between Mississippi Delta barber shops and the Mississippi Department of Health, reaches this population in one of the places where they feel most comfortable – the barber shop.
